MEET TANDIA

What’s your top fitness tip/secret? Exercise first thing in the morning- your brain doesn’t have time to discover what you’re actually doing! Plus you release endorphins when you exercise so you’re bound to start your day happy.

We love any movement that makes you feel good. What else get’s you moving? I love cross-country running and could run for hours if I had the time. It provides me with the same benefit I get from Pilates – I completely zone out and my mind goes quiet for once.

Favourite cheat food? I would say ice cream is normally my go to when I have a sweet craving- purely because there’s always a tub in my freezer. If were having people over for dinner I will beg my mum to make a Pavlova for dessert and if I am at the shops my go to choccy would be white Ferrero Raffaello.

Favourite Quote?  “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do” … Pretty much sums up why I wanted to teach Pilates!

First 3 things I do in the morning? Drink a bottle of water, make my bed and brush my teeth.

Last thing I do at night? Make sure my phones on silent. Sleep is king.

Food Philosophy? Clean and close to nature but with a dash of nectar.

3 foods you would eat daily? Avocado, greek yoghurt and nuts

Never Leave Home without….Water bottle- it’s like my baby and even has a name- sad I know.

I am inspired by… People that have absolutely nothing yet you can’t wipe a smile off their face.

TANDIA AND PILATES

Why do you love Pilates? There are many reasons why I love Pilates and I could take up a page explaining why so let me simplify my answer. Firstly the effect and transformation Pilates has personally had on me has been incredible. I have never felt stronger in my life and here I was thinking I needed to lift weights to get strength- wrong! My body awareness has heightened and I can automatically tell when my body isn’t correctly aligned – I no longer sit hunched over at the desk. I find Pilates completely relaxes me and de-stresses me and I have suffered badly with stress for years and have found Pilates to be the most effective. Lastly, I love it how Pilates never exhausts your muscles to the point of fatigue which means I can do it daily.

What is your favourite exercise? I try to practise lots of prone exercises (lying on your stomach) as I know the importance of having a strong back, however, I will admit they are my most dreaded. My favourite would have to be inverted exercises. I found them fun and think it’s important to get the blood moving to our head and flowing through our bodies.

What exercise took you the longest to master? It’s not a fancy exercise in the slightest but for years I haven’t had the strength to do a push up so I would practise it with bad form just so I could do it. So I had to retrain my body on how to correctly do a real push up and that’s taken a while.

Why should you do my class? I have received so many amazing benefits from Pilates and the best thing about being a teacher is being able to pass on those benefits to your clients. I think it’s so important to be able to understand your body inside and out and have complete body awareness and it’s surprising how many people have no awareness at all. I want to teach you to build awareness of what good movement should feel like and how you can integrate it from the mat to your daily routine.
